Lawyers for Equity, Access, and Diversity

Lawyers for Equity, Access, and Diversity (LEAD) is an advocacy group focused on promoting substantive and systemic equity in Alberta’s legal profession through advocacy, research, engagement and collaboration.

Our members come from all areas and stages of legal practice, but share a vision of a profession that reflects the diversity of the society it serves.

LEAD’s activities regularly include engaging with the Law Society on regulatory issues that are of particular concern to underrepresented communities in the legal profession, and working with other legal non-profit groups to promote equity and diversity. Past projects have included surveying the positions of prospective Bencher candidates on the topics of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Through its social media presence, LEAD also provides a forum for its membership of progressive lawyers to discuss relevant articles, research, and programs, their own experiences in practice, and to network and support each other.

LEAD Alberta is a nonpartisan non-profit group organized under the Societies Act of Alberta.
